Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty left his mark at Boise State with a career that included a Heisman Trophy candidacy before he departed for the NFL.
That record-setting career will be represented on the field every time the Broncos play on their distinctive blue turf.
The hash marks at the 2-yard lines will be painted orange instead of white in recognition of Jeanty’s career at Boise State, which included a 2,601-yard season in 2024.
He finished second in the Heisman voting and was the highest-drafted player in program history.
Boise State will also do the same with the 11-yard line in honor of legendary quarterback and current New Orleans Saints coach Kellen Moore.
“Permanently marking the greats who defined the culture,” a social media post said in announcing the decision.
Jeanty ran for 975 yards and scored five touchdowns on the ground as a rookie for the Raiders last year, adding 55 catches for 346 yards and five more scores.
The Raiders just added speedy running back Mike Washington Jr. out of Arkansas as a complementary back who can help take some of the burden off Jeanty.
Washington said he believes they can be like “thunder and lightning” for the Raiders.
Jeanty discussed the pick on a YouTube livetream this week, saying he liked the selection.
“I think our run styles will definitely complement each other,” Jeanty said. “I’m excited for when he gets in the building. We can build this rushing attack and do something special.”
