The Trump administration is targeting a familiar foe after a man was accused of opening fire at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner Saturday night: Late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel.
“Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC,” President Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday morning.
Trump was responding to part of a sketch on Thursday’s airing of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in which the Clark High School graduate delivered a roast as though he were the entertainment at the annual dinner.
“Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,” Kimmel joked.
“A day later,” Trump wrote elsewhere in his post, mistaking when that episode aired, “a lunatic tried entering the ballroom of the White House Correspondents Dinner, loaded up with a shotgun, handgun, and many knives.”
Trump’s post followed a statement from first lady Melania Trump on her X account that read, in part, “It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”
