The Las Vegas Raiders acquired a talented safety and additional assets early Friday evening.
After moving down two spots in a trade with the Houston Texans, the Raiders used the No. 38 pick to select Arizona’s Treydan Stukes, who started to pick up steam as a potential first-round selection over the last several days.
It continues a trend for general manager John Spytek, who traded back twice in the second round last season.
He did it again on Friday. The Raiders moved down two spots, sending pick No. 36 overall to the Texans in exchange for pick No. 38.
The Raiders moved up 26 spots from No. 117 to No. 91 in a pick swap as part of the deal. That means they’re now poised to make three picks Friday.
Houston selected defensive tackle Kayden McDonald with the pick. McDonald was believed to be a potential target for the Raiders.
Stukes is a versatile defensive back who can fill a variety of roles.
He has good size and great speed. The concerns lie mostly in his age and injury history.
