The Las Vegas Raiders have officially ruled Aidan O’Connell out of Sunday’s game against the Saints at Caesars Superdome.
O’Connell has not been with the team for more than a week following the death of his father.
The team had listed him as questionable Friday with the possibility he could join the team in New Orleans.
Instead, he will miss a second consecutive game.
“Our prayers are with Aidan and his family, and we miss him,” coach Klint Kubiak said Friday. “Can’t wait to get him back. He’s a huge part of our team, and we love him.”
O’Connell served as the emergency quarterback in the opener behind starter Kirk Cousins and top pick Fernando Mendoza.
Kubiak had declined to reveal who would serve as the emergency quarterback Sunday.
