The Las Vegas Aces know who they will face in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.
The Aces will open the postseason against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever after Las Vegas finished the regular season as the No. 3 seed while Indiana fell to No. 6 following a 86-66 loss to the league-leading Minnesota Lynx on Thursday and a Washington Mystics victory over the Chicago Sky.
The Fever finished the regular season 28-16 and won the season series against the Aces 2-1, including both games in Las Vegas.
Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana in scoring during the regular season averaging 25 points per game, while Clark led the Fever averaging 8.5 assists per game and Aliyah Boston averaged a team-high 8.1 rebounds.
The Aces will host Game 1 on Sunday, Sept. 27, and, if necessary, Game 3 of the best-of-three series at Michelob Ultra Arena.
The playoff matchup was determined after the Golden State Valkyries clinched the No. 2 seed with a 76-72 win over the Los Angeles Sparks and the Aces closed out the regular season on Thursday with a 100-82 win over the Phoenix Mercury led by a team-high scoring performance from A’ja Wilson who posted 34 points.
Wilson also added 10 rebounds and five assists for her 19th double-double this year as Las Vegas closed out the regular season with its seventh consecutive victory, Wilson’s 16 made field goals pushed her past Brittney Griner for 11th and Seimone Augustus for 10th on the league’s all-time made field-goals list.
Complementing Wilson’s outing was Aces guard Jewell Loyd, who finished second on the team in scoring with 25 points, including five 3-point baskets, along with two rebounds.
Chelsea Gray also contributed on both sides of the ball with her third double-double of the season, recording 12 points and 10 assists. Gray also passed Shannon Johnson on the league’s all-time steals list with five in the win.
With their victory over the Mercury, the Aces finished the regular season with a 31-13 record, including the second-most road wins in the league with 16, trailing only the Lynx with 18.
