The UNLV Rebels will look to bounce back Saturday after a season-opening loss to the Memphis Tigers when they travel to face the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in the next installment of the “Ninth Island Showdown.”
Both programs endured losses in their respective season openers, with Hawaii falling on the road to Stanford 37-27. The Rainbow Warriors will host the Rebels in their home opener.
Last season, the Rebels took care of business at home, defeating the Rainbow Warriors 38-10. But the travel to the islands has not favored UNLV, which holds a 3-9 road record in Hawaii. The absence of starting center Austin Boyd could also prove difficult for a program looking to avoid an 0-2 start to the season.
