In his Saturday letter to the Review-Journal on the charges against former FBI Director James Comey, Bob Valentine declares that, “There is no threat of harm in the expression” 86.
While it is true that “86” has come to mean “to put someone out of an establishment,” it is quite widely known that “86” originally meant “to kill.” It was a mob-esque expression, specifically to take someone eight miles out of town and put them six-feet underground.
