LETTER: Strange mindset

What’s going on with the Democrat members of Nevada congressional delegation?

The Democrats’ rallying cry these days is “affordability.” They want voters to blame President Donald Trump for higher prices. But before voting for a Democrat this year, Nevadans should consider where the affordability problem began. Inflation was about 2 percent during Mr. Trump’s first term, and about 3.3 percent in this term so far. In contrast, consumer prices rose more than 20 percent during President Joe Biden’s term.

That 21.5 percent increase is not going away. It is here to stay. Much of that CPI increase was driven by unprecedented federal overspending, including legislation supported by Nevada Reps. Susie Lee, Steven Horsford and Dina Titus, as well as Sens. Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto. Now those same officials blame Mr. Trump for affordability concerns, including gas prices.

I have to wonder what gasoline prices would be today if Mr. Biden had not canceled the Keystone XL pipeline on his first day in office. That pipeline would have been moving Canadian oil to the United States right now if the project had been allowed to continue.

To make matters worse, these same people voted against our getting tax breaks and the economic stimuli included in the “Big Beautiful Bill,” and now they are fighting against the SAVE Act requiring voter ID. Do these folks vote the way they do because they do not like Mr. Trump even when the legislation makes sense and will help Nevadans?

I will never understand such a mindset, but I do not have to vote for it.
