SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Paseo Verde will need to take down a familiar opponent if it wants to reach the Little League World Series championship.
Paseo Verde will take on West Side (Hamilton, Ohio) in the U.S. championship game Saturday at Lamade Stadium.
First pitch is 12:30 p.m. PST. The game will be on ABC.
Hamilton defeated Davenport Northwest (Iowa) 7-1 in an elimination game on Thursday.
Hamilton has needed to go through the loser’s bracket since Paseo Verde rallied from three runs down for a 6-5, walk-off win over the Great Lakes Region champions on Friday.
Not only has Hamilton thrived since, it has dominated, outscoring opponents 39-6 over the last five games.
Paseo Verde defeated Tacoma, Washington 5-0 following the win over Hamilton, then took down the dominant pitching of Iowa 14-6 on Wednesday.
The Henderson team will try to make it two years in a row that Nevada will be represented in the world championship game. Summerlin South won the U.S. title last year before losing to Chinese Taipei.
Curacao and Japan will play for the international championship.
