I read about Clark County’s Rebecca Place project in the northwest. Wow. An affordable starter home for couples is a 2,000 square-foot house with three bedrooms, three baths and a three-car garage? If you are income limited, you do not need a three-car garage. Or three bathrooms.
At a cost of $300,000 with 3 percent down, this is not affordable for someone making the income limits that qualify. Fuzzy math?
What is wrong with a three-bedroom, one-bath home with a carport, like most Baby Boomers grew up in? That is an affordable starter home. The builders could put many more homes that size on that property.
