The Injured Police Officers Fund will host a fundraiser Saturday for the family of the slain Metropolitan Police Department officer Austin Abdelnabi.
The fundraiser will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nevada Coin Mart at 4065 South Jones. All proceeds will go to the family of Abdelnabi, who died on duty last week.
“We invite community members, first responders and local businesses to stand alongside Austin’s family and show them they are not alone,” stated the Injured Police Officers Fund in a Facebook post.
Abdelnabi was responding to a call about a man with a gun outside of a business in the 4500 block of East Tropicana when he was fatally shot while exiting his vehicle. He was rushed to University Medical Center where he died.
The Injured Police Officers Fund is a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to those injured or killed on duty. They host the only officially approved fundraiser.
