A boy died this week at a Las Vegas hospital after jumping from the London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, authorities said.
The Lake Havasu City Police Department said in a news release that at about 8:52 a.m. Tuesday, bystanders reported a male juvenile had jumped from the London Bridge and had not resurfaced.
Witnesses reported seeing the juvenile go underwater, briefly resurface, and then go underwater again, police noted.
Police and fire personnel searched the shoreline and surrounding waters, with civilian boat operators providing vessels to assist first responders with the search-and-rescue effort.
A Lake Havasu City Fire Department crew member entered the water with lakeshore rescue equipment and conducted an underwater search of the area.
The juvenile was located underwater at about 9:12 a.m. and found to be unresponsive, according to the release.
The boy was taken to Havasu Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Police said he was later transported to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas on Tuesday afternoon, where he died.
