A Las Vegas police officer has died after an officer-involved shooting in the east valley Tuesday afternoon, Sheriff Kevin McMahill said.
The Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release issued at 4:25 p.m. that an officer sustained injuries during the shooting, which occurred in the 4500 block of East Tropicana Avenue near Interstate 11.
The officer was being taken to a hospital, Metro said previously.
Numerous law enforcement vehicles — at least 20 — were seen outside University Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon.
