
A Las Vegas police officer was injured and rushed to a hospital after an officer-involved shooting in the east valley Tuesday afternoon.
The Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release issued at 4:25 p.m. that an officer sustained injuries during the shooting, which occurred in the 4500 block of East Tropicana Avenue near Interstate 11.
The officer was being taken to a nearby hospital, Metro said, adding that the officer’s condition was currently unknown.
Metro advised the public to avoid the area due to a large police presence.
