
An inmate from Clark County died at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs last week, according to state prison officials.
Joaquin Ramirez was pronounced dead at the prison last Thursday, the Nevada Department of Corrections said in a news release Tuesday. He was 53.
Ramirez was serving a sentence of 180 months to life with the possibility of parole for lewdness with a minor, attempted sexual assault against a victim under 16 years old.
According to a Las Vegas police arrest report, Ramirez acknowledged having sexual contact with the accuser and wrote a letter of apology.
Ramirez arrived at the prison on Dec. 5, 2025. His next-of-kin was notified.
