A third man has been charged with murder in the killing of a man during a marijuana deal in southeast Las Vegas in April, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Clark County Detention Center records show Khalil Ratcliff, 20, was booked Thursday on charges of murder, attempted robbery, conspiracy and discharging a gun into an occupied vehicle. He is being held without bail.
A police arrest report and court records show Ratcliff is the third person charged in the attempted robbery and shooting of Victor Powe, 59, on April 10 in the 5700 block of Missouri Avenue near Boulder Highway.
Two other suspects, Elijah Harris, 20, and Quin’Marion Washington, 18, remain in custody after being indicted on murder, attempted robbery and conspiracy charges.
A police arrest report for Ratcliff said Powe parked his vehicle in the area at 6:29 p.m. when three men approached on foot. Gunshots rang out and Powe drove off before his vehicle crashed into a nearby building. He died at the scene.
Police said in the arrest report that officers searching Powe’s vehicle found a backpack containing a large quantity of marijuana. Other smaller bags of marijuana were found in the car, and police said in the report that Powe was believed to be “employed by an unidentified person, delivering marijuana.” Police said Powe was set up to be robbed by the trio, and that Ratcliff fired two gunshots into Powe’s vehicle as he attempted to drive away.
Police said they made the arrests after examining video surveillance that tracked the suspects to a nearby apartment complex, cell phone records and also witness accounts.
