
The Boulder City data center kerfuffle seems like much ado about very little. The data centers have no more frontline impact — as far as water use — than car washes or golf courses and do a lot more for us. As for “excess power usage,” we need only look at the bright lights of the Strip to counter that argument.
A Boulder City data center using federal land seems to alleviate the problem we keep hearing that the government won’t release land in Nevada. Well, there it is. It’s just that Boulder City won’t cash in on it.
