Bishop Gorman’s highly-anticipated matchup with St. John Bosco (California) will not be a meeting between the top two teams in the country, according to USA Today’s Super 25 rankings.
The Gaels are ranked No. 3 in the USA Today poll released this week. IMG Academy (Florida) is ranked at No. 1 and St. John Bosco is No. 2.
Gorman will host St. John Bosco on Aug. 21 at Fertitta Field. St. John Bosco and Gorman are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, by both MaxPreps and High School Football America.
The Gaels finished 12-1 last season and ranked No. 2 in USA Today’s final poll and No. 3 by MaxPreps. They were ranked No. 1 by USA Today all four times the program was coined mythical national champions (2014-16 and 2023).
Mater Dei (California), which hosts Gorman on Sept. 18, is ranked No. 6 by USA Today. The Gaels also have out-of-state games at Columbus (Florida) on Sept. 4 and Lone Peak (Utah) on Sept. 11.
