Two women have been arrested in connection with a shooting at a Walmart that led an officer to kill a man in the store’s parking lot Tuesday morning, according to jail records.
Ameea Blue, 30, and Raqiya Halima Smith, 25, were both booked at the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday. They are being held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit battery and battery with a deadly weapon and disregarding the safety of people and property resulting in death or substantial bodily harm.
Police have not confirmed the two arrests are related to the Walmart shooting at 5198 Boulder Highway, but the women were booked under a Metropolitan Police Department event number linked to the shooting.
Police said a fight involving multiple people broke out inside the store near Nellis Boulevard just after 6 a.m. During the fight, a man shot another man inside the store, leaving him in critical condition.
The gunman then emerged from the store with a gun and was fatally shot by police as they arrived at the scene, according to Metropolitan Police Department Capt. Brandon Oris.
On Wednesday morning police identified the officer involved in the shooting as Cristobal Magana, 29. Magana has been employed with the department since 2024. He is assigned to the Community Safety Division Southeast Area Command. He is on routine paid administrative leave.
The identity of the man killed has not been released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
