In response to your Thursday article, “County homelessness climbs”: There is an easy solution for this. Let’s just build a massive homelessness shelter. After all, the city of Los Angeles has done the same thing. What could possibly go wrong?
Naturally, because it would be a Clark County government project, it will inevitably come in over-budget, thanks to local unions with their grossly overpaid members and their deal with the Democratic Party. In addition, it will probably take years to build thanks to bureaucratic red tape (see: Brightline West). But, heck, it is only taxpayer money — which we are flush with and, after all, it is the “feel good” that counts, right? Because many homeless people wish to remain homeless, once built, if ever, few occupants will reside there. The ones who do will, in all likelihood, trash the place, which will require more taxpayer money.
Yet another massive government boondoggle and the real losers will be the hardworking taxpayers of Clark County. Commissioner Tick Segerblom would be proud.
