Ramped up law enforcement over Fourth of July weekend led to hundreds of traffic stops and dozens of DUI arrests in the Las Vegas Valley.
According to a social media post from the Metropolitan Police Department, there were 714 traffic stops during the joint law enforcement initiative, “SUPER DUI Blitz.”
The operation, which included the Henderson Police Department, Nevada Highway Patrol and Las Vegas Department of Safety and phlebotomists, resulted in 427 citations, 76 DUI arrests, 13 other arrests, six firearms recovered and 88 towed vehicles from Friday through Sunday.
“We are takin’ and towin’ vehicles off the roads that shouldn’t be endangering you,” Metro said in the social post. “There are too many safe options available. Never drive impaired.”
Separately, the North Las Vegas Police Department said it made 18 DUI arrests and investigated 32 traffic collisions during the three-day holiday weekend, including three alcohol-related crashes and one drug-related crash.
