Defenseman Lukas Cormier has signed a one-year contract to remain with the Vegas Golden Knights, general manager Kelly McCrimmon announced Monday.
Cormier, 24, completed his fourth season in the AHL playing with the Henderson Silver Knights, recording 47 points (eight goals, 39 assists) in 49 games.
Cormier was one of five restricted free agents who were extended qualifying offers by the Knights. Goalie Akira Schmid was dealt to the Florida Panthers for a 2028 third-round draft pick June 29. Forwards Joe Fleming and Jakub Demek have agreed to one-year, two-way contracts, and forward Jakub Brabenec’s rights have been retained.
Cormier, a native of Sainte-Marie-De-Kent, New Brunswick, has played in two NHL games, both with the Knights, and recorded an assist during his debut on Jan. 4, 2024, as part of a 5-2 win over the New York Islanders at T-Mobile Arena. He was drafted by the Golden Knights in the third round (68th overall) of the 2020 NHL draft.
