Beaver Dam State Park is scheduled to reopen as the Grapevine Fire nears full containment.
Nevada Incident Management Team #4 said in a release that the park will reopen at 6 a.m. Monday. Fire crews have stomped out the Grapevine Fire, which is estimated at 26,464 acres and is at 95 percent containment, over the Fourth of July weekend.
The park, located near Caliente, 140 miles north of Las Vegas, was closed to support firefighter and public safety during peak fire supression operations.
Firefighters continue to secure burned areas and monitor interior heat. Supression repair work is ongoing to restore disturbed areas and minimize long-term impacts.
Fire danger remains elevated across the Great Basin geographic region, which remains at Preparedness Level 4, reflecting high fire activity and significant demand for firefighting resources nationwide.
Other Nevada wildfires
The other wildfire near Caliente, the Kane Springs Fire, is estimated at 17,042 acres and is 95 percent contained.
Two wildfires in northern Lincoln County, the Parsnip Peak and Dry Canyon fires outside of Pioche, have seen containment efforts progress in recent days. The Dry Canyon Fire is estimated at 1,651 acres and is 95 percent contained. The Parsnip Peak Fire, is estimated at 2,264 acres and is 65 percent contained.
The Bureau of Land Management said Sunday it would transition fire supression efforts to a smaller team at Parsnip Peak.
“Crews continue to mop up and secure lines around the fire’s perimeter, and with the success of operations the incident is being handed over to a smaller Type 4 team,” the BLM said in a release.
