Three Nevada inmates have died over the past week, corrections officials announced Thursday.
The Nevada Department of Corrections said Fili Fagaima, 61, died Saturday at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas. Fagaima was serving a 15- to 45-year sentence for second-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon at Southern Desert Correctional Center, just outside Indian Springs, about 40 miles northwest of Las Vegas, the department said.
Fagaima was sentenced in 2018 for his role in beating Sean Witkowski, 31, to death with a metal pipe near UNLV in December 2016.
Otis Bishop, 24, died Wednesday at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, according to the department.
Bishop was serving four to 15 years at Ely State Prison, in eastern Nevada’s White Pine County, for attempted lewdness with a child under 14 years old, the department said. He entered the corrections department in September, authorities said.
Quentin Moore, 29, died at High Desert State Prison on Thursday, according to corrections officials. High Desert is also just outside Indian Springs.
Authorities said Moore was serving a sentence of more than 40 years to life for first-degree murder, battery with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm within a structure and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm. Moore entered the department’s custody in January 2020, officials said.
Press releases from the department did not specify a cause or manner of death for the three inmates, but said that authorities have requested autopsies.
