A suspect is in custody after a deadly shooting this month in the northeast Las Vegas Valley.
Abdul Muhammad, 39, was booked Wednesday into the Clark County Detention Center for open murder with a deadly weapon, two counts of attempt murder with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, and prohibited person in possession of a firearm, according to a Metropolitan Police Department release.
Police received a report just after 9 p.m. June 18 of a shooting at a business in the 4900 block of East Craig Road, near North Nellis Boulevard, Metro said at the time. Officers arrived to find the victims in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds.
The woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives learned that the victims had been involved in a “verbal altercation” with another man, police said.
“The suspect then produced a firearm and fired multiple rounds at the victims before fleeing the area prior to officers’ arrival,” the news release said at the time.
Muhammad, who is being held without bond, is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing July 9.
