The seventh annual battle for Las Vegas pro sports supremacy takes place this weekend with the Vegas Golden Knights and Las Vegas Raiders facing each other in a charity softball game.
The Battle For Vegas game is set for Saturday at Las Vegas Ballpark featuring players from the Knights, led by team captain Reilly Smith, and from the Raiders, led captain Brock Bowers.
Team Smith includes players Carter Hart, Adin Hill, Shea Theodore, Keegan Kolesar, Braeden Bowman, Alexander Holtz from the Knights’ Stanley Cup Final team and former Knights fan favorite Ryan Reaves. Team Bowers features current players Eric Stokes, Mike Washington, Keyron Crawford, Kwity Paye, Jack Bech, Jalen Nailor and Jonah Laulu and former Raiders linebacker Kirk Morrison.
Backstreet Boys member and Las Vegas resident Nick Carter will sing the national anthem and play in the game with Team Smith.
Gates open to the ballpark at 6 p.m., with a home run derby kicking off the festivities at 7 p.m., followed by an 8 p.m. first pitch. Fans can also expect a flyover by the Thunderbirds, appearances from team mascots such as Chance, Spruce the Goose, and Aviator, and a postgame fireworks show.
Aside from being a fan favorite event the past several years, Battle For Vegas has also generated a considerable amount of money for local nonprofits. Since the event’s launch in 2019, over $1.2 million has been generated. This year the event will benefit the Battle For Vegas Foundation and its community partners, including Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada and Cure 4 The Kids Foundation.
The Knights will look to avenge last year’s loss, when the Raiders won 29-26 via a walk-off grand slam by Bowers, that saw $155,000 raised for charity.
Tickets for the event are still available via Ticketmaster and start at $45.50.
