
An employee of the city of Las Vegas who was shot and killed by a co-worker Friday at a downtown maintenance yard has been identified.
In a news release Monday, Mayor Shelley Berkley identified the victim as Joey McLean.
McLean, a maintenance worker, had been employed by the city since May 2018, according to the release.
“This unspeakable act of violence has shaken our team. I ask that the community join me in mourning the loss of life of employee Joey McLean Please keep Joey’s family, friends and loved ones in your thoughts and in your heart,” Berkley said. “I want to thank the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for their swift response to take a suspect in custody and thank our city leadership for working with Metro to ensure they have the information they need to complete their investigation.”
