While the Summerlin master-planned community is well-known for its 300-plus parks and 200-plus-mile Summerlin Trail System, the community’s four resident-only private community centers — three with Olympic-sized pools — also offer abundant opportunities for social interaction and active play, making them ideal for summer fun.

“Especially during summer months, Summerlin pools play an important role in nurturing the community’s robust social infrastructure and providing places for active play,” said Danielle Bisterfeldt, senior vice president, marketing and consumer experience for Summerlin. “From the perfect summertime cooldown, to lessons and competitive swim leagues, Summerlin pools offer a variety of opportunities for community residents of all ages.”

Summerlin’s first community center, The Trails, opened in 1995 and remains one of the busiest hubs in Summerlin for learning and fun. With The Trails Community Center and Pool, which is located in The Trails village, Summerlin’s resident-only community centers with pools also include The Vistas and The Willows.

At the three community pools, resident children can participate in swim lessons and the Summerlin Seals team. All programs are offered through the Summerlin Council, the nonprofit arm of the Summerlin Community Association dedicated to the social enrichment of community residents.

The Summerlin Council plays a major role in nurturing community culture. It oversees and coordinates the community’s many youth and adult sports leagues, offers classes of all kinds to promote continuous learning for children and adults, and hosts a variety of holiday celebrations throughout the year, including its signature Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade on July 4, which is the valley’s biggest Independence Day parade with more than 70 entries and tens of thousands of attendees.

Summerlin is also home to two public community centers designed, constructed and funded by Howard Hughes Communities, Summerlin’s master developer, as part of its development agreement with local municipalities. These centers are operated by the city of Las Vegas and Clark County, respectively, and are open to everyone, regardless of Summerlin residency.

Located within the city of Las Vegas is the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center and Pool, where a second Olympic-sized pool is under construction and scheduled to open this year. The center also offers a fitness center, classroom space and outdoor recreation areas.

In Clark County, Aquatic Springs Indoor Pool offers year-round water play, including a 25-meter, 10-lap pool, a deep scuba pool and a therapy pool with handicap access. The facility features tall overhead doors that, when open, create the feeling of being outdoors.

Cowabunga Canyon, located at 7055 S. Fort Apache Road, offers water-park fun all summer long. Hours vary so check the website at Cowabungavegas.com/canyon/.

In its 36th year of development, Summerlin offers more amenities than any other Southern Nevada community. They include 10 golf courses; 26 public, private and charter schools; Roseman University College of Medicine, a public library and performing arts center; Summerlin Hospital Medical Center; more than a dozen houses of worship representing multiple faiths; office parks and neighborhood shopping centers.

Downtown Summerlin offers fashion, dining, entertainment, Red Rock Resort and office buildings. City National Arena is home of the Vegas Golden Knights’ practice facility. The Las Vegas Ballpark is a world-class Triple-A baseball stadium and home of the Las Vegas Aviators.

Summerlin offers over 110 floor plans in 20 plus neighborhoods throughout seven distinct villages and districts. Homes, built by many of the nation’s top homebuilders, are available in a variety of styles — from single-family homes to townhomes, priced from the $400,000s to more than $1 million.

For information on all actively selling neighborhoods, visit Summerlin.com. Before you visit, any new Summerlin neighborhood, call the homebuilder to check on hours of operation. Phone numbers for each neighborhood are on Summerlin.com.
