Two children were hospitalized in critical condition late Sunday night after a fire at an apartment complex in the east Las Vegas Valley.
Emergency crews responded to reports that several people were trapped in a heavy fire inside two units of a two-story apartment building in the 2600 block of Nellis Boulevard, near Sahara Avenue, at 10:58 p.m., Clark County Fire Department Deputy Chief Steve DePue said in an email.
“Firefighters initiated an aggressive offensive fire attack while simultaneously conducting search-and-rescue operations,” DePue said.
By 11:16 p.m., crews confirmed that everyone had been removed from the apartment building and the fire had been knocked down.
Two children were taken to a local hospital in critical condition and an adult was hospitalized with a minor medical complaint.
No injuries to firefighters or public safety personnel were reported, according to fire officials.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
