About the Athletics (31-34): The Athletics beat the Houston Astros 5-0 on Sunday to snap a three-game losing streak. They enter Monday 2.5 games behind the first-place Seattle Mariners and a game out of a wild-card spot. Much of the A’s success have come from former Las Vegas Aviators and the team’s first-round draft picks. Former Aviators catcher Shea Langeliers leads the team with 16 home runs and is batting .281. On the mound, former Aviator J.T. Ginn is 3-3 with a 2.74 ERA and 60 strikeouts. A’s 2024 first-round pick Nick Kurtz was named the American League player of the month for May after hitting .333 with five home runs and 26 RBIs in May.
Jacob Wilson, the A’s 2023 first-round pick, was already in Las Vegas playing on a rehab stint for the Aviators for a shoulder injury. Reports said Wilson could rejoin the A’s during their series in Las Vegas.
Also on a rehab assignment with the Aviators is 2021 first-round pick Max Muncy, who hit a home run for the Aviators on Saturday and could join the A’s this week as well.
About the Brewers (40-23): Milwaukee comes to Las Vegas winners of seven of its last 10 games and leading the National League Central by five games. The Brewers are coming off a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies. William Contreras is hitting .285 to lead Milwaukee and Jake Bauers is hitting .281 with a team-high 11 hone runs for the Brewers. Milwaukee pitching star Jacob Misiorowski (7-2, 1.50 ERA) is not expected to pitch for the Brewers during the series against the Athletics. The Brewers have the third-best record in MLB after winning a league-high 97 games last year in the regular season.
