The Shade Tree,
a 24-hour accessible shelter designed to specifically meet the needs of those escaping domestic violence, human trafficking and homelessness, has named Jaye A. Straus to the nonprofit’s board of trustees.
Straus, a third-generation native Nevadan and estate planning attorney, follows her mother, Heidi Sarno Straus, who previously served as a board member for The Shade Tree, into service for the 37-year Southern Nevada nonprofit.
“We are thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with the Sarno-Straus family as we welcome Jaye Straus to our board of trustees,” Linda Perez, CEO of The Shade Tree, said in a statement. “Jaye’s legal expertise and heartfelt commitment to service will be invaluable as we continue to expand our impact. Her dedication to our mission strengthens our ability to serve survivors and families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.”
