Desert Inn Estates in east Las Vegas is the most affordable neighborhood in the city, according to a new study.
The neighborhood, which is northwest of the Clark County Wetlands Park, was ranked the most affordable because of a number of factors, according to the study from Nextdoor. The study looked at data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Tax Foundation and the Bureau of Economic Analysis along with the website’s own data.
“Desert Inn Estates is a quiet, residential neighborhood,” reads the report. “Known for its spacious homes and well-kept yards, it’s a peaceful retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle, yet conveniently close to shopping, dining, and entertainment options.”
The most affordable Las Vegas neighborhoods that round out the top five in the Nextdoor study are: Biltmore Bungalows, which is just northeast of Harry Reid International Airport, Opulence in Spring Valley in the southwest, Emerald Gardens in the southeast and Pecos-Bonanza in the northeast.
The study also looked at Nevada cities overall and found that Hawthorne was the most affordable place to live, followed by West Wendover, Lovelock, Ely and Carlin.
North Las Vegas took top spot out of all the Nevada cities ranked in a recent WalletHub study as the most affordable place to live, ranking 11th overall out of the 300 largest municipal areas in the country. However, the study simply looked at the basic cost of living. Flint and Detroit, Michigan, came in first and second, respectively, in the study. The least affordable city was Santa Barbara, California.
The city of Las Vegas ranked 17th in the study and Henderson came in 30th, according to WalletHub.
