Bishop Gorman’s football team had added three-star rising senior quarterback Chance Thomas, a Kansas commit, according to Thomas’ social media accounts.
Thomas transferred to Gorman from Western (Anaheim, California) where he threw for 3,327 yards and 33 touchdowns with a 71.5 completion percentage, and seven rushing touchdowns last season.
Thomas, listed at 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, committed to Kansas on May 11. He chose the Jayhawks over Auburn and Utah, among his more than 20 Division I offers.
The class of 2027 prospect is now ranked as the No. 3 recruit in his class by 247Sports.
Gorman will have to replace the production of outgoing senior quarterback Maika Eugenio, who is playing college football at Hawaii. The two-time first-team All-Southern Nevada selection threw for 3,084 yards, 42 touchdowns and completed 74.8 percent of his passes to lead the Gaels to a fifth straight state title.
Thomas is expected to compete for the starting quarterback job with rising junior Ace Amina, a three-star class of 2028 recruit with 20 Division I offers. Amina holds notable offers from Oregon, Nebraska, Arizona, Washington and SMU.
