DENVER — The Vegas Golden Knights continue to find a way to win without Mark Stone in the lineup.
That’s a good sign for his impending return, as the captain skated Wednesday morning with the scratches during the optional skate at Ball Arena.
Stone hasn’t played since suffering a lower-body injury in Game 3 of the Anaheim series.
The Knights have now won three of their last four without him following the 4-2 win in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final against the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena.
Coach John Tortorella did not provide an update Wednesday morning. General manager Kelly McCrimmon also declined to give an update when he met with the media Tuesday.
The Knights also played without defenseman Jeremy Lauzon, who was out for the entirety of the second round.
But the Knights have continued to find ways without two key contributors. Dylan Coghlan, in the lineup in place of Lauzon, scored his first career playoff goal in Game 1.
The Knights got goals from Brett Howden and Pavel Dorofeyev, who now has a league-leading 10 in the postseason.
