The sale of a 25 percent stake in the Las Vegas Raiders was approved Tuesday, adding to the ownership percentage of billionaire Egon Durban and businessman Michael Meldman, while bringing in new high-profile minority owners.
Joining Durban and Meldman in Raiders ownership were Dell Technology founder Michael Dell (5.3 percent stake), Blackstone founder Joseph Baratta (1.7 percent), TKO CEO Ari Emanuel (1.4 percent) and TKO president Mark Shapiro (0.6 percent), according to the Sports Business Journal.
Durban’s interest in the team sits at 22 percent, after adding 11 percent to his previous 11 percent stake.
At the NFL owners’ meetings in March, Raiders majority owner Mark Davis’ succession plan was approved, which gives Durban the right of first refusal to purchase the controlling stake in the team, should Davis choose to sell.
Meldman’s stake in the Raiders increased to 12.9 percent, after acquiring a 5.4 percent share in the team in Tuesday’s deal.
The just over 25 percent stake included in the deal was divested by First Football, which includes David Abrams, Dan Goldring and Paul Leff, according to SBJ. The group bought its stake in the team in 2007.
Davis owns 36 percent of the Raiders and is still the controlling owner of the team, according to the California Post.
