In the past two years, a developer started a housing development near Southern Highland two miles off Starr Hills into the desert. There has been blasting and grading and it took hundreds of trucks to build a road. The dust and noise was intolerable. But the real problem was the amount of water that is being used to start and finish this project.
We are constantly made aware by mail, print and TV of the shortages at Lake Mead and asked to conserve water. Every community wants growth, but at what cost? Who was responsible for letting someone start a housing project and molest our beautiful desert that far from existing infrastructure?
Consult your representatives and ask why this was allowed to happen. If they agree this is OK, then decide how you want to vote.
