The numbers have come up for the Primm Valley Lotto Store. And not in a winning way.
The famous store along Interstate 15, which has been the go-to place for Las Vegas Valley residents to purchase their lottery tickets for at least 20 years, is closing July 4.
A representative for The Primadonna Company confirmed Wednesday that the store will join other Primm properties to permanently close, including Primm Valley Resorts and Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino.
Since lotteries in Nevada are prohibited by the state constitution, the store is swamped by ticket buyers when the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots near record levels. For example, thousands waited in line in December for a chance to win the $1.7 billion Powerball jackpot.
The store, officially listed in Nipton, California, borders the Prizm Outlets shopping complex and even has its own road (aptly named “Lotto Store Road”).
So where can valley residents go to buy lottery tickets after July 4? Fortunately, there are some options.
— The Terrible’s Chevron station on Yates Well Road, located on the east side of Interstate 15 about 7 miles south of Primm.
— the Nipton Historical Village in Nipton, Calif., which is on Route 164 about eight miles east of I-15 and a few miles from the Nevada border.
— in Arizona, the Last Stop Travel Center in White Hills (about 40 miles south of Boulder City) and a few stores along I-15 in northwest Arizona (about 90 miles northeast of Las Vegas) sell lottery tickets. Those stores are: the Scenic General Store and Beaver Dam Station in Littlefield and the Arizonc Lottery store in Beaver Dam.
