The Vegas Golden Knights couldn’t generate a rhythm offensively for the second straight game, this time losing to the Anaheim Ducks 3-1 in Game 2 of their second-round series Wednesday at T-Mobile Arena.
The best-of-seven series is tied at a game apiece. Game 3 is Friday at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The Knights escaped the first period without allowing a goal despite having to go on the kill for eight minutes on penalties from Tomas Hertl, Mitch Marner and Jack Eichel.
But the Ducks’ forecheck was on the Knights all game, and it paid off in the second period when Calder Trophy finalist Beckett Sennecke opened the scoring at 11:23.
Ducks center Leo Carlsson added one more at 6:36 of the third with a weak-side finish.
Knights goaltender Carter Hart finished with 26 saves and was the team’s best player for a second straight game, but the offense couldn’t get anything going.
Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal was five seconds from a 24-save shutout before captain Mark Stone scored a late power-play goal.
This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
