A 31-year-old inmate at High Desert State Prison died this week, according to a news release from the Nevada Department of Corrections.
Enrique F. Rojas-Rubio was pronounced dead at the prison, which is 40 miles northwest of Las Vegas, on Monday, according to the news release. No cause of death was provided.
Rojas-Rubio had been serving a sentence of up to 46.5 years after being convicted of robbery with use of a deadly weapon, battery and attempted possession of a weapon by a prisoner, according to the department.
Rojas-Rubio came to High Desert in 2014 from Washoe County, the department said. An autopsy was scheduled, according to the release.
The death was the ninth at the prison so far in 2026, according to department spokeswoman Teri Vance.
