Another poker room on the Strip is folding.
The poker room at Resorts World Las Vegas will close on March 30, a casino spokesperson said. No reason for the closure was provided.
“We look forward to introducing new offerings that reflect our continued commitment to dynamic, high‑quality experiences,” the Resorts World spokesperson said in a statement.
Once the poker room at Resorts World is shut down, there will be eight poker rooms on the Strip. Those rooms are in Aria, Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Horseshoe, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, The Venetian and Wynn casinos.
The poker room at Planet Hollywood closed in January, less than 10 months after opening in a new location on the mezzanine level.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 31 poker rooms in Las Vegas casinos, according to Vegas Advantage, an online trade site that tracks and chronicles casino game conditions. With the closure of Resorts World’s poker room, there will be 17 remaining throughout the Las Vegas Valley.
Despite its popularity, poker is not a major revenue generator for casinos. According to the most recent available data from the UNLV Center for Gaming Research, poker generated less than 2 percent of annual revenue for the “average” Strip casino in 2024.
