Tour de Summerlin, Southern Nevada’s longest-running cycling event and a USA Today top 10 cycling event in 2023 and 2024, returns to the community April 18.
Tour de Summerlin, presented by Howard Hughes Communities, developer of Summerlin and Downtown Summerlin, is expected to draw more than 750 cyclists.
Tour de Summerlin, celebrating its 25th year, offers three distances — 80 miles, 40 miles and 20 miles — catering to all skill levels. Considered one of Southern Nevadan’s most rider-friendly events, Tour de Summerlin is noncompetitive and untimed, focusing on camaraderie, safe cycling, outdoor activity and the scenic Summerlin community and its surroundings, including Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
The 80-mile route begins at 7 a.m.; the 40-mile route begins at 8:15 a.m.; and the 20-mile route begins at 9:15 a.m. All bike types, including e-bikes, are permitted.
All registered participants will receive a 25th anniversary commemorative T-shirt and medal. Registration fees are $130.06 for all routes and $22.51 for the 20-mile course for those ages 15 and younger. Individuals ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult on the 20-mile course. Danielle Bisterfeldt, senior vice president, marketing and consumer experience for Summerlin, said Tour de Summerlin was originally created to showcase the community’s beauty, offering cyclists scenic routes through Summerlin’s new-home neighborhoods and the stunning views of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area to the west.
“Whether you’re a serious cyclist or just enjoy getting out on a bike, each route offers plenty of bike lanes, beautiful scenery and unique riding experiences,” Bisterfeldt said. “Summerlin has long been synonymous with cycling given its proximity to Red Rock Canyon and the community’s 200-plus-mile trail system. Tour de Summerlin is a natural fit for our community, and we look forward to welcoming cyclists from across the valley for this fun event, which has become a signature tradition for our community.”
In its 36th year of development, Summerlin offers more amenities than any other Southern Nevada community.
