New Las Vegas Raiders center Tyler Linderbaum isn’t chronically online and tried his best to stay out of the drama between his new team and his former organization in Baltimore the last few days.
He’s just excited to have Maxx Crosby back with the Raiders after the Ravens canceled a proposed trade between the teams.
“I can’t really speak on the situation,” he said at an introductory news conference on Thursday. “I don’t know the details of what all went on. But obviously I’d love Maxx to be here and play with him. I’ve gone against him and he’s not fun to go against. We had to scout him and his ability to lead a team is pretty special. I’m excited to be on his team.”
Linderbaum shattered the record for highest-paid interior lineman in the league with his deal to join the Raiders.
“It means a lot and I don’t take that lightly,” he said. “I appreciate the opportunity, but at the end of the day, I have to prove it every day on the field and by how I come in the building. By earning my coaches’ trust and my teammates’ trust. I’m thankful for that opportunity and excited to meet the guys and get to work.”
Linderbaum was going to get a massive contract, so he had plenty of options in free agency.
He said the opportunity to be a part of what the Raiders are trying to build was a big part of his decision.
“Going through the process, I was trying to find a team suitable to my skill set,” he said. “I’m excited about what Coach (Klint) Kubiak is going to build here. Something I think will fit my play. The whole organization, I believe, is headed in the right direction. It’s something I’m excited to be a part of, building this program into a championship-level team.”
