One of the Summerlin private school students accused in connection with an alleged overseas sexual assault appeared in adult court Tuesday.
Dominic Kim, 15, faces a count of possession of child sexual abuse material and two counts of child abuse or neglect.
Juvenile Court Judge Dee Butler ordered last week that he be tried as an adult. He is accused of showing video of the assault to other children while attending an event at The Meadows School.
Kim and other boys accused in connection with the alleged assault were students at the Alexander Dawson School in April 2025, when authorities say it occurred on a school trip. Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson has said local prosecutors do not have jurisdiction to prosecute the assault itself because it happened in Costa Rica.
An additional teen suspect, Vaughn Griffith, 15, has already been certified as an adult and faces a count of possession of child sexual abuse material.
Two other students in the case are not facing charges because of the jurisdictional problems, Wolfson said previously.
Kim’s bail was set at $30,000 on Saturday. He was still in jail custody during his hearing on Tuesday. Defense attorney Josh Tomsheck said in court that Kim has posted bail but was waiting to be fitted with an electronic monitor.
