The Las Vegas Raiders spent significant assets Monday acquiring players from other organizations.
There was still plenty of money left to bring back one of their own.
Defensive end Malcolm Koonce signed a one-year deal with the team for the second-consecutive offseason and will try to earn a long-term contract as he continues to rebound from major knee surgery last offseason.

It’s the latest move on a very busy opening day of free agency.
Malcolm Koonce grade: C+
Keep in mind, a C is considered average.
This is slightly above that mark.
Koonce is fantastic in the locker room and has shown he is capable of playing at a very high level, but he’s still chasing that second half of 2023 before he was injured.
There is a chance this could be a great deal for the Raiders if Koonce is back to full speed and finds the right fit in the new system under defensive coordinator Rob Leonard, who was Koonce’s position coach.
