The Las Vegas Raiders got one of their star players back for Wednesday’s practice at the team facility.
Another was notably absent and is now expected to miss some time.
Tight end Brock Bowers underwent a procedure on his knee this week and will miss at least Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, though his absence is not expected to be long-term.
Running back Ashton Jeanty, however, participated in the first session of the week.
It was the first time he has been on the practice field since suffering an ankle injury on Aug. 23.
Coach Klint Kubiak confirmed last week he was optimistic about the possibility of Jeanty being available for the start of the regular season.
Bowers was having a tremendous training camp as he recovered from a knee injury that lingered for much of last season and contributed to a decline in his numbers from a record-setting rookie year.
Michael Mayer is expected to step into a more significant role, but Bowers was supposed to enter the season as the clear leader for targets in Kubiak’s offense.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
