A Las Vegas man is accused of secretly recording a woman in a locker room at a Las Vegas Valley gym, according to police and court records.
Jacob Tyler Godown, 34, is charged with a gross misdemeanor count of capturing images of another’s private area. He was charged on Aug. 26 in connection with the June incident at a Las Vegas Athletic Club at 2655 S. Maryland Parkway, the Metropolitan Police Department said in an arrest report.
Police said the woman told police she was at the gym at 6:55 a.m. on June 15. While changing in a locker room stall, “she noticed there was an unknown adult suspect on the floor, under her stall with a cell phone pointed at her while she was nude,” police said.
The woman said she yelled out “Why are you recording me?” and wrapped herself in a towel.
The woman banged on the stall next to her, then pulled the stall door open to find a man with long hair inside. She pulled a piece of his hair out as he ran out of the women’s locker room, police said, and an employee and an assistant manager of the gym chased after the man, but he got away.
The man was observed fleeing in a red Volkswagen Jetta, police said. The man was also captured on video surveillance inside the gym, police said.
Nine days later, the police were called to the gym by the same woman, police said. She told police that the man who recorded her was in the parking lot. Police approached the man and ordered him out of red Volkswagen. When he got out of the vehicle his belt was undone, his pants were buttoned up but his pants zipper was down, police said. The man, police said, identified himself as Godown.
Police said they found a white powder believed to be cocaine in the vehicle. Godown was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine as well as an outstanding warrant, and police said they also collected phones they found in the vehicle. Police interviewed Godown and he told police that he got confused and went into the wrong restroom.
“I asked Godown what he was doing in the woman’s locker room for almost 4 hours,” police said. “He stated that he was high on cocaine and did not remember.”
A forensic analysis of the contents on the phones showed video recorded from a bathroom stall as well as video of a woman in her undergarments on June 15, police said.
