Carsynn Meyer is about to be enshrined in Cooperstown.
After becoming the first U.S. girl to play in the Little League World Series championship, the Paseo Verde outfielder will be immortalized in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Paseo Verde shared a letter from Jon Shestakofsky, the vice president of communications and content for the Hall of Fame, expressing interest in having a piece of Meyer’s gear in Cooperstown, New York.
Meyer is sending a signed pair of game-worn batting gloves.
“Carsynn’s accomplishments in Williamsport this summer represent an important chapter in that ongoing history,” the letter reads, posted on Paseo Verde’s Instagram shared by Meyer’s mom, Tiffany. “Her performance on the field, combined with the inspiration she generated throughout the tournament, created a story that resonated well beyond the games themselves.
“We would be thrilled to have the opportunity to preserve a piece of that history and share it with the millions of visitors who come to Cooperstown to learn about baseball’s enduring impact.”
Meyer joined Alabama’s Kinley Rasmus as the 25th and 26th girls to play in the Little League World Series this year.
Meyer recorded two hits in Paseo Verde’s run to the U.S. championship, both resulting in RBIs. She recorded one of those in the 12-2 win over Ohio that punched Paseo Verde’s ticket to the world title game against Curacao.
Her gloves join Las Vegas resident Greg Maddux, who was inducted into the Hall in 2014.
