The Henderson Animal Protection Services have rescued 21 Sphynx cats after animal welfare concerns were brought against Sin City Sphynx and breeder Shanti Cloonan. According to a release from the City of Henderson, ‘a local court determined that Cloonan was unfit to retain ownership of the animals and custody of the 21 cats was awarded to the City of Henderson’.
Many of the cats were found suffering from illnesses and physical abnormalities associated with breeding practices that raised the animal welfare concerns. The City of Henderson will provide further details of how to adopt or rescue the Sphynx cats once all the cats are healthy.
The City of Henderson is also looking to the public for any information on cats purchased from Sin City Sphynx or Cloonan who experienced significant health issues. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Henderson Animal Protection Services at 702-267-4970.
