A court ruling out of Tennessee on Wednesday made prized UNLV basketball player AJ Storr ineligible.
For now.
That could change.
Storr, the Ole Miss transfer who pledged his commitment to UNLV on Aug. 18, is one of 19 individual plaintiffs affected by the ruling.
The Tennessee Court of Appeals stayed a July temporary injunction in Washington vs. NCAA.
When he signed with the Rebels, Storr had two injunctions making him eligible. Both have now been stayed in the last week.
“He’s ineligible as of today,” UNLV coach Josh Pastner said. “We are obviously monitoring the situation day by day. A lot can change between now and Nov. 3, when we play our first game. You’re talking about nine weeks. We have some time to figure out how this is all going to go. Some guys in state cases are eligible and some aren’t right now.
“There’s a lot of runway left before basketball season starts. He could become eligible and then ineligible and then eligible before the season starts. As of right now, it’s way too early to determine how things are or will go.”
In addition to his time in Oxford, Mississippi, the 6-foot-5 Storr made stops at Kansas, Wisconsin and St. John’s. He was on the roster at Bishop Gorman in 2020 before the pandemic led to the season being canceled and him transferring.
