Passenger traffic at Harry Reid International Airport continued its downward trend in July, but there was a glimmer of hope with international arrivals and departures up 6 percent for the month.
The Clark County Department of Aviation on Wednesday reported the airport serving Las Vegas had 4.4 million passengers in July, a 7.6 percent decline from July 2025.
Of the total, there were 4 million domestic passengers in and out of Reid, an 8.7 percent downturn from July 2025. Most of the decline was attributed to the discontinuation of air service by Spirit Airlines in May. While other carriers have filled in on some of the routes, capacity still hasn’t risen to 2025 levels with Spirit out of the picture.
International traffic rebounded for the second consecutive month with airlines bringing 296,499 passengers to Las Vegas.
For the first seven months of 2026, there were a total 30.2 million passengers, a 6.9 percent decline from the previous year. Of that, there were 27.8 million domestic passengers, down 6.8 percent, and 1.9 million international travelers, down 8.6 percent from 2025.
Of the top five commercial air carriers serving Reid, only Delta Air Lines had fewer passengers for the first seven months of 2026. The airline that picked up the most Spirit customers appears to be No. 2 Frontier Airlines, up 16.6 percent to 2.6 million passengers. Market leader Southwest Airlines reported 12.6 million passengers in seven months, up 0.2 percent from a year ago.
On the international side, two carriers had double-digit percentage increases – Air Canada, up 11.5 percent to 40,701 passengers, and Mexican discounter Volaris, up 38.6 percent to 39,872.
But Canadian discounter WestJet plunged 20.2 percent to 35,344 passengers, Reid statistics show, cancelling out some of the gains made by other foreign carriers.
Other visitation trends and July casino gaming numbers are expected to be reported by the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority on Thursday.
